NEUROLOGY

Our neurology clinic offers diagnosis and treatment of general neurological disorders, such as Migraine, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Stroke, Epilepsy and Parkinson“s Disease. Our scope of services includes four main disciplines; General Neurology, Stroke Management, Movement Disorders and a Neurodiagnostic Unit.

Headaches are by far the most common complaint from patients in our general clinic. About 65 % of women and 57 % of men suffer from headaches sometime during their life. The majority of these are a form of migraine or tension headache. The effective management of headaches requires a precise diagnosis coupled with the appropriate treatment; in the case of migraine, the patient also needs to be aware of potential triggering factors.

We also carry out comprehensive assessment and management of stroke patients. We hold joint consultation with the stroke centre at the University of Melbourne, Australia, that specializes in neuro-vascular intervention.

We offer the latest medical and surgical treatment options for Parkinson’s Disease (PD) including Deep Brain Stimulation for progressive PD and Gamma Knife thalamotomy for severe disabling tremor unresponsive to medical treatment.

The Neurodiagnostic Unit offers a comprehensive range of tests including Electroencephalography (EEG) for the assessment of epilepsy; Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) for peripheral nerve and muscle disorders; Evoked Potential Study (EPS) for assessing sensory symptoms; Electronystagmography (ENG) for the assessment of dizziness. We also have video EEG for long term monitoring of epileptic patients and Transcranial Doppler for assessing the intracranial vasculature.
