The Brain Centre (TBC) at Canossa Hospital specializes in diseases of the nervous system. Its scope of service includes neurology, neurosurgery, Gamma Knife surgery, brain health checkup, and a charitable subsidiary, The Brain Centre Foundation.

TBC is constantly at the forefront of new technology and innovations. TBC was the first to bring MR imaging (1987) and Gamma Knife surgery (1995) to Hong Kong. With active participation from neurosurgeons in the public sector, the Gamma Knife service is among the first successful model of public-private interface.

In the fall 2007, TBC upgrades the Gamma Knife into the Perfexion model, the first in Asia. This latest Gamma Knife model excels in accuracy, patient comfort, radiation protection and workflow.

Other pioneering activities of TBC include deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, stereotactic MR guided neurosurgery, unilateral trans-nasal transsphenoidal pituitary surgery, video EEG monitoring for epilepsy, and the concept of brain health check-up as a preventive measure in stroke. TBC founded The Brain Centre Foundation to help needy patients who cannot afford expensive treatment, and to offer sponsorship and free service to baby orphans in China.
